Over
the last few years, we have been able to support a lot of charity work in
Romania including work in orphanages. Since 1992 we have been assisting in the
transport of humanitarian aid into Romania and Moldavia and recently we have
been have been able to collect 20 bicycles which have been done up and sent to
Vulcan in Romania. The bicycles are used to help people get work to feed their
families. Our cast offs become their main transport.
STOP PRESS! We need 5 bikes for Bulgaria! The “Children’s Overseas Relief Fund” is a charity that has
run for 10 years and supports a number of orphanages. The Iskra orphanage has
created a “halfway house” for 10 teenagers aged 16+. Those with learning
difficulties will be dumped in an adult mental institute unless they can get
jobs. Having a bike will enable them to reach local towns for work. Your old
bike will help them. If you have a bike, or know someone who has, please don’t
dump it. We can use it!

We
have teamed up with a similar church in Rasnov, near Brasov, right in the heart
of Romania who can help us prioritise need and assist in the distribution of
goods. We have a network to transport almost anything to Vulcan which is 10km
from Rasnov.
We
have been able to send money and goods directly to those in need so that what
we are doing is effective.
Sadly,
in this last year, both Ron and Sue Bates have passed away but the work
continues at www.inasmuch.ro. Follow the
link for details.
We
continue to keep in touch, so watch this space!
